Jamie Winch, Policy & Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Local Land Charges Programme

Jamie is a Policy & Stakeholder Manager, working with key industry stakeholders to have develop the primary and secondary legislation, required to allow HM Land Registry to deliver a single digital Local Land Charges (LLC) Register.  Prior to working on LLC, Jamie was Customer Team Leader in HM Land Registry working with our customers.  During this time, he was heavily involved in delivering e-DRS and signed up early adopters of the service. 

 

Mark Chick, Partner at Bishop and Sewell LLP

Mark is recognised as a leading UK authority in this sector. He is a Leasehold Reform specialist and has been a Partner at Bishop & Sewell LLP since 2006.He regularly writes and speaks about enfranchisement and leasehold matters and is the author of two leading websites Leaseholdinfo.com and Leasehold Reform News. Over the past ten years he has developed Bishop and Sewell’s Landlord and Tenant practice to be one of the largest specialist teams in the UK. Under his direction the department has flourished and he now leads a team of specialist solicitors and property experts.

 

John Feaster, Partner, Taxation and Private Client, Schofield Sweeney 

John qualified in September 2005 as a tax lawyer with Eversheds LLP specialising in property taxes. He became a chartered tax adviser in 2007, before moving in 2009 to EDF Tax LLP taking up the role of Senior Manager and Head of Stamp Taxes. John joined Schofield Sweeney LLP in October 2011 to build and maintain a corporate and real estate tax practice. 

John has extensive experience in advising on the tax aspects of property transactions (construction, development, occupiers).  John has a specialist knowledge of SDLT, having written a leading practitioner textbook on the subject, the fifth edition of which has recently been published by Claritax Books. He has written numerous articles on SDLT (published in Taxation, Tax Adviser and TaxationWeb) and has spoken at conferences and events in relation to SDLT.  John is a member of the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group (the special interest group at the Chartered Institute of Tax for members who have regular involvement with stamp taxes law).

 

Rebecca Stopford, The Legal Director

At The Legal Director Rebecca works for clients between 1 and 6 days a month as their in house lawyer, providing a flexible General Counsel service. Rebecca joined The Legal Director in 2016 with 18 years experience as a commercial partner in private practice and working inhouse under her belt. This includes roles as legal counsel in a global manufacturing business where Rebecca was directly involved all manner of strategic commercial contracts for a business which delivered products to the automotive, industrial and healthcare markets and most recently as Head of Legal for PSG Connect Ltd. Rebecca lives in Derbyshire and advises clients in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and throughout the UK.
