On shore energy exploration and production alert

Power Station

Ever increasing energy consumption needs are leading to more applications for exploration and construction of energy. Given the high profile and potential high impact of operations associated with energy exploration and production, including hydraulic fracturing, an energy report would enable you to meet your client care requirement and is a valuable addition to your due diligence obligations.

Fracking (hydraulic fracturing), windfarms and other forms of major energy resource projects are of increasing concern to homeowners and property investors in the UK. Finding the ideal location is becoming a real premium for homebuyers concerned that they may be in the front line of these often highly intrusive developments. DECC (the Department of Energy and Climate Change) has identified areas of land (licensed blocks) which could be earmarked for energy exploration and exploitation in the future.

PSG Connect now includes an enhanced search alert function which will identify Energy 'risk'  and recommend an Energy Report if your property lies within 5km of any of the following:

  •  an existing onshore oil, gas, shale gas or coalbed methane well which has been active since the year 2000
  • a planning application relating to onshore hydrocarbon (oil, gas, shale gas or coalbed methane) exploration and/or development;
  • an existing wind farm (present on the UK Wind Energy Database);
  • a planning application relating to a multi-turbine wind installation;
  • an existing power station; or
  • a National Infrastructure Project relating to energy generation of transmission.

Choose from the following reports, both of which are available on PSG Connect.
